An ethical being – what do you think?
This blogsite exists in a genuine but probably quite feeble attempt (compared to other more expertly derived material) to produce content that draws together numerous online Tibetan sources.
I have also attempted NOT to include material relating to the selling of Buddhist statues (depicting Shakyamuni Buddha (the Buddha of this current eon) or any other of the other 1000′s of Buddha’s/deities of the three times).
The reason for this is simple, it is clear with just the minimum of investigation, that many historical monuments, temples and monasteries in the area that used to be known as Tibet (before the 1950′s) have been ransacked and the contents sold illegally (for personal gain) in many places around the world. Being involved in such shameful activity can only have undesirable long-term effects on the perpetrators of these actions. I want no part of this trade, merely for trifling or even hefty financial gain.
As I use software that automatically sources varied material into this blog, I cannot always be certain that such undesirable items (as mentioned above) will NOT appear at all. The site will be verified (by myself) to remove suspicious content.
Many high quality sites already exist out there that contain, properly sourced statues etc (see WWW.FPMT.ORG) for instance. For many people though, visiting these types of organized religious groups (or even their websites) may prove untenable. I hope that by providing this site I am providing some helpful alternative.
Be confident that any financial gain I personally make through the provision of the blog will be ethically utilised, and where possible ploughed back into valid Tibetan organizations (such as the Australian Tibet Council (http://www.atc.org.au/). I do though need to eat on occasion and may have to consider funds derived from here for that purpose. Presently though (at 2011 southern hemisphere spring), I am making a loss on this service.
